National Championship AA Preview: Team 91 Long Island

Follow the NLF on InstagramTwitter and Facebook. This is the Team 91 Long Island 2020 and 2021 preview for the 2019 NLF Club National Championships. We’ll be profiling some of the top players from every 2020 AA and 2021 AA teams who will be in attendance.

2020
Top Commits

Nick Caccamo, defense, Harborfields (N.Y.) / Yale
Aidan Danenza, midfield, St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) / Duke
Nick LiCalzi, defense, South Side (N.Y.) / Navy
Brennan O’Neill, attack, St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) / Duke
Jayson Tingue, goalie, Bay Shore (N.Y.) / UMBC

Top Uncommitted Players

Andrew McAdorey ’21, midfield, St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) – Once McAdorey gets the ball on the clear, your ride is toast. He has unbelievable quickness, agility and change-of-direction ability, and he gets downfield in a flash. Recently named the MVP of the Naptown Challenge title game, McAdorey shoots the ball well and can play either attack or midfield.

Joey Spallina ’22, attack, Mount Sinai (N.Y.) – Spallina continues to add to his bag of tricks and it’s very clear that he’s put in the time in the weight room. On the heels of becoming the first freshman to ever earn All-Long Island honors by Newsday after a 131-point season, Spallina has continued to dominate this summer for both Crush and ’22 Smash, and his lacrosse IQ and stickwork are off the charts.

2021
Top Uncommitted Players

Danny Caddigan, midfield, Smithtown West (N.Y.) – Not many ’21s can score quite like Caddigan can. He racked up 75 snipes this spring for Smithtown West, but he’s also a weapon on the ride and is a better dodger than you’d usually expect from a guy who shoots it as well as he does.

Tyler Gatz, midfield. Mount Sinai (N.Y.) – Highlights. Gatz was the driving force behind Team 91 Blaze’s championship at the NLF Opening Weekend with his ability to get open and score from anywhere on the field. He can really shoot the ball, and he’s more than capable of taking over a game at a moment’s notice.

Aiden McCaffrey, defense, Comsewogue (N.Y.) – A sophomore standout starter for ‘Wogue this spring, McCaffrey is quietly efficient and gets the job done all over the field. He’s an eraser, and while you won’t find him throwing many highlight-reel checks, you also won’t find his matchup doing a whole lot.

Mac Rodriguez, faceoff midfield, Chaminade (N.Y.) – Rodriguez has been an absolute force for Brian Spallina‘s group this summer, whether it’s facing off, taking wings or running out of the midfield. He has great foot speed and gets to top speed quickly, and he’s thrived against top competition all summer long. You won’t find many tougher players and he’s always willing to mix it up.
