Will Trymbiski couldn’t believe the text message that he was reading.
The Big 4 HHH class of 2026 attackman was coming off of an incredible year for La Salle (Pa.). He was named the Philadelphia Catholic League MVP and helped guide the Explorers to their first PIAA state championship since 2019. That included a five-goal performance in the title game, a fitting swan song for his career at La Salle. He’d started out as a nondescript recruit – “I didn’t have any stars,” – who finished it off as one of the premier players in the state.
Trymbiski committed to Hofstra early in the recruiting process, but after he also earned U.S. Lacrosse All-America honors, decided that he wanted something different. So he decommitted from the Pride and started reaching out to other schools for what he felt was a better fit. A text message from new Virginia head coach Kevin Cassese more than caught his eye. It more or less stopped him dead in his tracks.
“That was really crazy to see,” Trymbiski said. “Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to go to a bigger school with a great lacrosse program and high academics. After the year I had, I decided to put myself out there and reached out to some coaches. Virginia had a spot and I took it. It’s kind of crazy how everything went, but it ended up working out for me.”
Trymbiski knew that putting himself back on the market so late in the process was a gamble. Despite that, he felt good about his chances of finding a great home.
“When you do something like that, you’ve got to have confidence and go full force into it,” Trymbiski said. “I had the confidence and I prayed about it. When I saw the text, I just said, ‘oh my gosh.’ This is a dream come true and a crazy moment. It’s probably one of the best moments of my life.”
Even More Firepower for Virginia
Trymbiski joins an absolutely loaded Virginia class that featured seven players in this weekend’s National Senior All-American Game powered by Nike. He’ll fit right in with fellow NLF standouts like five-star prospects Lucas Garcia (Brunswick, Conn. / Prime Time), John Balsamo (Chaminade, N.Y. / Long Island Express) and Hunter Mezzatesta (Yorktown, N.Y. / Express North), four-stars Brian McCaffery (Allentown, N.J. / Leading Edge) and Tanner Olrich (St. Ignatius Prep, Calif. / ADVNC / West Coast Starz) and Evan Freeman (Taft, Conn. / Prime Time).
Trymbiski will fit right in that explosive offensive class as a lefty that can sling thr ball well. While he carried the ball a lot more as a La Salle upperclassman, it’s easy to picture him as someone who will be able to do his damage off the ball at Virginia.
“I was more of a role player going into my sophomore year, but as a senior, I really stepped up my game, dodged a lot more and showed what I could be,” Trymbiski said. “I’m going to be surrounded by the best guys in the country and I can complement their dodging game with my off-ball game. The best part of my game is my off-ball work and shooting, but I think I’ve shown that I can be a Swiss Army knife.”
Trymbiski becomes the third Big 4 HHH class of 2026 ACC commitment. He’ll join HHH and La Salle teammate Dylan Malone (Duke), plus Notre Dame signee Dylan Novak (Malvern Prep, Pa.) in the country’s top conference. His experience at HHH also played a formative role in getting him to Charlottesville, something for which he’s grateful.
“They were very supportive throughout the process, so I have to give them a lot of credit,” Trymbiski said of the NLF’s Philadelphia founding member. They made my summers pretty busy and super fun, and I would go back and do it every year if I could.”
