West Coast Starz Goalie ’27 Teddy Oh Elevated to Five-Star Status

It’s one of the best goalie classes in recent history. Actually, ask around, and you’ll start to hear some people talk about how this could be a generational class of stoppers. It’s certainly an incredibly deep class of goalies, and there’s a case to be made that 20 or so Division I schools will land a goalie that they feel ranks in the top three or five in the class.

Teddy Oh is one of the class’ elite, though. A four-star in the original NLF class of 2027 rankings, Oh spent the summer making a mockery of that ranking with fantastic, consistent play at every event in which he played. Oh started at Taft (Conn.) as a sophomore, stopping 60 percent of shots fired his way against elite competition. This summer, though, he took his game to another level.

Oh backstopped ADVNC to a championship at CrabFeast, one of the toughest tournaments to win. He was spectacular throughout, including a huge save in overtime of the championship game to give his team the ball back to win it. He then struck gold yet again at the toughest event of the summer. Oh was outstanding in the cage to lead the West Coast Starz to their first NLF national championship since 2018.

After putting together that incredible body of work this summer, Oh gets elevated from a four-star to a five-star as part of this week’s NLF rankings update. The Northern California native slots in as the No. 2 goalie in the class.

“Teddy has firmly established himself as one of the top two or three goalies in the class with his play this spring and summer,” West Coast Starz director Jono Zissi said. “He’s incredibly patient and has such great hand speed and instincts. He was the catalyst in the Starz winning the NLF National Championships.”

“Teddy was phenomenal this summer,” ADVNC director Chris Rotelli said. “He is extremely consistent, has excellent fundamentals, plays his best in the biggest games, and is extremely smart. It’s almost like he knows where players are going to shoot the ball before they do. He was a major reason the ADVNC team won Crabfeast, and the WCS team won NLF. Teddy was the best player on the field at any position in most games we played this summer, and will be a terrific college goalie.”

Oh is an incredibly high-level student who reportedly has his sights set on the Ivy League. It might not even take very long for him to go off the board, either. Whichever school lands Oh will get one of the premier goalies in his class and a stopper that has all the tools to be a high-level college starter.

“Teddy is as patient and stable as they come. Even in the biggest games, he takes it one defensive possession at a time. On more than one occasion as a sophomore starter, he was the difference maker in the game, leading us to a win or making a big save down the stretch,” Taft head coach Max Rosner said.

“He is a great teammate and certainly coming into his own as a leader for our defense,” Rosner added. We are excited to watch him progress this year as a junior and I think the confidence of having had a year as the starter is only going to allow him to develop more in other areas of his game.”
