Team 91 Long Island Venom didn’t waste its opportunity at redemption.
The NLF founding member from Long Island fell in overtime of the 2025 NLF National Championship. They made it back to the title game this year at Stony Brook’s LaValle Stadium. This time, the hosts didn’t miss their chance to shine on home turf.
2029 Jake Byrnes (Massapequa, N.Y.) led 91 with four goals and five-star ’28 Ben Hristoforatos (Chaminade, N.Y.) added a hat trick to lead the Venom to a 13-8 win over Eclipse in the title game. Hristoforatos earned tournament MVP honors after putting together a tournament befitting of a top-10 prospect. Team 91 took out Team 91 South and Leading Edge in the playoffs to reach the championship game. The title game featured eight of the NLF’s top 30 prospects in the class of 2028.
Five-star Hunter Hanford (Brunswick, Conn.) paced Eclipse with a hat trick. Eclipse beat the reigning national champion Annapolis Hawks in the semifinals after downing Big 4 HHH in the quarterfinals.
