A battle between two of the top five class of 2028 teams went as expected at the NLF Fall Invitational. Don’t be surprised to see a rematch in the playoffs next July at the NLF National Championships.

A thrilling back-and-forth affair between Team 91 Long Island and the West Coast Starz went down to the wire. The Starz got a late goal from Ramsey Peterson (Marin Catholic, Calif.) to secure an 8-8 tie against the 91 Venom.

Peterson and Austin Tuttle (Brunswick, Conn.) were the offensive bellcows for the Starz. Tuttle had a gorgeous throwback skip pass to set up Peterson’s game-tying goal. That highlighted a four-goal, five-point game from the big Colorado native who continues to prove that he’s one of the elite goal scorers in the class. Peterson was the big provider for the Starz with that goal and three assists, all to Tuttle. His quickness and vision gave the defense problems.

Owen Lavey (Massapequa, N.Y.) paced the 91 Venom with a pair of goals to go with two assists. Colton O’Connell (St. Anthony’s, N.Y.) made several timely saves, while lefty LSM Casey Gilchrist (Massapequa, N.Y.) was a force in between the lines.
