IMG COVID-19 Protocols

IMG Academy will work collaboratively with all hosted event customers and visiting teams to coordinate our COVID-19 prevention efforts.  The standard of practice that will be achieved by close collaboration is that the risk of COVID-19 person-to-person or surface-to-person transmission will be mitigated to the lowest level possible

COVID-19 Health and Safety Requirements

Outlined below are general measures that are required of all hosted events or visiting teams to prevent the spread of COVID-19 at IMG Academy:

  • Social Distancing – Hosted event staff, event participants, visiting teams and spectators will be required to comply with all social distancing guidelines in effect at the time of the event. The social distancing guidelines will be in accordance with all current Federal, state and local recommendations.
  • Cleaning & Sanitation Procedures – To minimize transfer of COVID-19 during hosted or team events at IMG Academy, enhanced cleaning and sanitation methods will be employed to reduce risk to event staff, event participants and all other visitors. The standard of practice for this preventative effort will be in alignment with the most recent CDC guidelines for the disinfection of all utilized facilities.
  • Facial Covers – To minimize the spread of COVID-19 during hosted and team events at IMG Academy, facial covers will be required by all event staff, participants and visitors. This will be strictly enforced and those not adhering to this requirement will be asked to leave the campus.  There will be the following exceptions:
    • Participation in drills and warmups
    • Participation in sports activities
    • Coaching activity requiring clear communications (with social distancing) and face coverings are not practical
    • Team meetings outdoors where social distancing is maintained
    • Individual with underlying medical conditions that prevent the use of facial coverings
    • When socially distanced from all other event staff, participants and visitors

 

  • Access Screening – Upon entering campus, all hosted event staff, event participants, visiting teams and spectators will undergo a health screening via a verbal assessment as recommended by the most recent CDC guidelines. Those who do not pass will be asked to remain off campus.  The most recent Federal, State and Local recommendations and guidelines will be utilized to determine the adequacy of the screening process.  The responsibility to execute this requirement will be negotiated with IMG Academy (when applicable).

 

  • Hand Washing and Sanitizing – Hand washing facilities will be provided for all hosted event staff, event participants, visiting teams and spectators. The utilization of facilities will be encouraged by adequate signage to indicate its location and encourage the frequent practice of hand washing.  Additionally, hand sanitizing materials will be made available to supplement this requirement should the travel distance to facilities be considered significant.

 

  • Participants will only have access to the designated fields, courts or facilities that they are participating on. All other campus facilities are off limits.

 

 

Event/Game Set-Up

 

Spectators

Spectators are currently allowed on IMG Academy’s Campus under the following guidelines:

  • Only one (1) spectator per athlete.
  • Spectators will receive a handout at the gate providing IMG Covid regulations.
  • Each teams’ spectators must isolate from each other. Sides of the field/court will be designated for each team’s spectators.
  • Spectators must maintain 6 feet of distance between themselves and other spectators
  • Spectators should not interact with players, coaches, or officials at any time while on campus
  • Spectators should not congregate before or after the game. Parents waiting for their children should wait in their car.
  • Seating areas are designated, and spectators must adhere to those locations

 

Equipment

Each team should bring their own equipment. Sharing of equipment will not be allowed.

 

Sportsmanship

Handshakes, high-fives, chest bumps, etc. are prohibited. Teams are encouraged to find creative ways to show respect for their opponent from a distance.

 

Bench Areas/Team Box

Bench areas and team boxes will be expanded to allow for distancing. Only players in uniform and approved coaches should sit in the bench area/team box during the game. Teams are encouraged to bring chairs to allow for distancing of athletes not in the game.

 

Weather Safety

In the event of severe weather. All spectators should return to their cars. Participants should ensure they are wearing masks and report to the weather safety location. While distance should be maintained, safety from lightening takes precedence.

 

 

 

Role of Coaches/Administrators

Coaches and Administrators are expected to ensure compliance of participants and related spectators. This includes:

  • Self-assess for COVID-19 symptoms prior to arriving on campus and continue to monitor themselves for symptoms throughout their stay on campus. If symptoms are present, the individual should self-isolate at home. Any guest who presents with any of the symptoms below may be asked to leave the campus.
    • Fever or chills
    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • Fatigue
    • Muscle or body aches
    • Headache
    • New loss of taste or smell
    • Sore throat
    • Congestion or runny nose
    • Nausea or vomiting
    • Diarrhea
  • Distribution of COVID-19 policies to all participants and spectators prior to arrival on campus.
  • Completion of all required waivers by participants prior to competition.
  • Wear a facial covering at all times, except when participating in sports activities
    • This includes while on the bench/sideline while not in the game
  • Wash/sanitize their hands regularly
  • Socially distance themselves from others when possible
  • Creating distance on the sidelines and bench areas
  • Ensure athletes are not congregating in close proximity to each other
  • Minimize time and access on campus pre and post game

 

Role of Athletes

Each individual athlete plays a major role in stopping to spread of COVID-19. Athletes participating/competing on IMG’s campus must:

  • Self-assess for COVID-19 symptoms prior to arriving on campus and continue to monitor themselves for symptoms throughout their stay on campus. If symptoms are present, the athlete should self-isolate at home. Any guest who presents with any of the symptoms below may be asked to leave the campus.
    • Fever or chills
    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • Fatigue
    • Muscle or body aches
    • Headache
    • New loss of taste or smell
    • Sore throat

    • Nausea or vomiting
    • Diarrhea

Role of Parents/Spectators

Parents and spectators should enjoy the competition at a safe distance from the athletes and other spectators. This includes:

  • Self-assess for COVID-19 symptoms prior to arriving on campus and continue to monitor themselves for symptoms throughout their stay on campus. If symptoms are present, the spectator should self-isolate at home. Any guest who presents with any of the symptoms below may be asked to leave the campus.
    • Fever or chills
    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • Fatigue
    • Muscle or body aches
    • Headache
    • New loss of taste or smell
    • Sore throat
    • Congestion or runny nose
    • Nausea or vomiting
    • Diarrhea
  • Wear a facial covering at all times
  • Wash/sanitize their hands regularly
  • Remain at least 6 feet apart from other spectators
  • Time on campus should be limited to immediately before and after the game
  • If the above policies are not followed spectators can be asked to leave the facility
